About this coffee roast
Known colloquially as The Headquarters of the Revolution, the Green Dragon Tavern was located near the intersection of modern day Union Street & Hanover Street in Boston’s North End neighborhood. This coffeehouse functioned as a regular meeting place for some of New England’s most influential merchants, artisans, and politicians.
Gathering in secrecy in the dimly lit confines of the tavern, one group of men, who called themselves the Loyal Nine, discussed colonial grievances and resistance to British rule. They strategized and organized protests against oppressive British policies, laying the groundwork for the American Revolution. In this historic haven, amidst tankards of ale, carafes of coffee, and the scent of pipe smoke, the seeds of revolution were sown, serving as a catalyst for the burgeoning independence movement and shaping the course of American history.
